Judges' Education At Potomac*

The LRCP is pleased to present a judges' education seminar for judges and those interested in becoming a judge on Monday, April 9th with Dr. Michael Woods (Waterdog) and Clare White-Peterson. The seminar will consist of three separate sessions. The first session begins Monday morning in the Hotel Ballroom with a classroom presentation "The Labrador Retriever" by Dr. Michael Woods. The second session, Monday afternoon, will be limited to twenty five (25) participants and will be a hands-on examination of labradors. The third session on Tuesday will be ring-side mentoring. Each Monday session will cost $25 and will include morning muffins and coffee. Tuesday's mentoring session will be free, but participants must register in advance for planning purposes. Lunch may be purchased both days at the Hotel Concession in the Atrium.

Ah... the Potomac Gala! Veterans Night! The Silent Auction! Juniors at Potomac! The Live Auction! It's gonna be a full night of fun. As always, Yellow, Chocolate or Black Tie is Optional. But the fun is not. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 11 in the Hotel Ballroom. We have available, twenty reserved tables for you and nine of your closest friends for veterans judging and the live auction. Juniors at Potomac - “Retrieving for the Future!”

The Club is delighted to announce a program of special events for Junior Handlers attending the Potomac Specialty in 2012. Plan to attend a social in the Hotel Atrium on Tuesday, April 10, to meet the competition and receive your show assignments for the week. And get ready for the big night Wednesday in the Hotel Ballroom where Breeder/Judge Ms. Lisa Weiss will choose the Best Junior. And if you survive that, we are planning a Junior Handler Training Seminar on Thursday evening. All Juniors ages 9 - 18 are welcome whether you are competing or not.

The LRCP is pleased to offer heart exams, Optigen tests, EIC testing and much more for your dogs at Potomac 2012. Cardiologist Dr. Luis Braz-Ruivo. DVM, DVSc DACVIM will be available to perform Ausculation with echocardiogram with color doppler. Dr. Kathy Sneider, DVM will be available for hip & elbow x-rays, International Health Certificate and many other services in her mobile Clinic on the hotel grounds. CASH ONLY fees will be $265 for hips and elbows and $295 if sedation is needed. Please call Dr. Sneider (508-615-1390 or 508-830-9943) to set up an appointment or take your chances at the show. We will be offering CERF exams from 2 pm to 5 pm in room 105. Please use the form below to make reservations and prepay. Finally, Dr. Scott Dove DVM will be available again this year to collect Stud dogs for frozen semen.


To schedule an Optigen, EIC or DDC test, please go to the appropriate organization web site Optigen (LRCP124), University of Minnesota VDL or DNA Diagnostics Center) to pre-register and make payment. Please note for Optigen tests that the Special 20/20 Clinic Fee 20%-25% off price using Code LRCP124.

Dr R. Scott Dove of Companion Animal Hospital, Gainesville, Va 703-754-8387 will once again be at the show for semen freezing. Dr Dove is affiliated with CLONE. Dr. Dove will be available on Wednesday April 11 and Thursday April 12 for collection, evaluation, and freezing of semen for your dogs between 8-12 am and 2-5 pm both days.

To sehedule an echocardiogram, please download and complete the OFA form and bring it with you to the clinic. Then, simply use the online form below to pre-register and make payment (PayPal accounts OR all major credit cards accepted). We will call you when the judging schedule has been published to set up an appointment. Discounts are offered for all tests, but require pre-registration and prepayment.

Canine Good Citizen & Therapy Dog International Testing & Certification


The LRCP is pleased to offer testing and certification for Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International. What a wonderful treat for you and your dog and everyone you meet! I speak from personal experience - check it out! All testing will be done indoors in the Ballroom by pre-registration only which closes April 2. Every passing team will receive a rosette! CGC is $20 and TDI is $20. OR, both CGC and TDI individual certification for the same team for $30. (This gives the option for CGC certificate from AKC along with awards for both levels) Registration closes April 2 with a limit of 20 dogs. Testing will be done from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 11th. Participants MUST preregister and dog MUST have a BUCKLE COLLAR or Non-Training HARNESS ONLY. Also, handler must bring the dog's brush for that part of both tests. Scheduling will be sent to participants via email shortly after entries close on April 2nd. There is no age restriction for the CGC Test. However, in order to participate in the TDI test your dog MUST be at least one year old.

Things to do: Use the PayPal Reservation Form (green link below) to register and prepay (all major credit cards or PayPal account)for your test(s). Send proof of current vaccinations and proof of county license to the test evaluator at the address below AND to the activity chair, Ellen Moon at the address below. Also, bring hard copy of these documents with you to the test.

Things to bring: Dog's registration name & number(if you have one - dog is not required to be registered); birth date/age; proof of rabies & county registration; buckle collar and your dog's brush. Don't forget the dog :)

Motor Home/RV Parking

Exhibitors wishing to park a motor home or recreational vehicle at the Holiday Inn must agree to abide by the following "Rules, Regulations and User Agreement" and must make advance reservations and pay the applicable fees not later than April 6(see form below). The LRCP gratefully acknowledges the efforts of Penny Kretchmer who has volunteered to coordinate motor home/RV parking for the 2012 show. Please note that all RV parking will be assigned by Penny who has the full blessing and authority of the Club to make these decisions. Your cooperation is appreciated. Towed vehicles may be claimed at Henry's Towing in Fairfax, Virginia.

Space is extremely limited and returning vendors are given preference. Please download and read all of the documents below before contacting the Jodi. Returning vendors must complete the registration process and make non-refundable payment not later than February 15, 2012. Please use the Vendor PayPal Registration Form below to make payment with the credit card of your choice or your PayPal account if you have one. New vendors must also complete the registration process and make non-refundable payment as soon as Jodi confirms that space is available. All vendors must sign and return the Vendor Agreement below.
